The Month of Tishri (Ethanim) in the Bible

The seventh month in the Jewish spiritual calendar is named Ethanim. In the civil or financial calendar it is the first month and is named Tishri. In a typical year there are thirty days in this month. In the Gregorian (Western) calendar it corresponds to the period from the middle of September to the middle of October. After every seven years the Year of Release starts in this month, and after forty-nine years (7x7) the Year of Jubilee starts. Due to the impact on financial transactions the civil or financial calendar starts in this month.
